Here are the reasons why I decided to produce this video in honor of Jeff: To help raise funds for a memorial stadium at the local high school—to raise money for scholarships and Constitutional studies and annual trips to Salem and Washington—to offer thanks to Jeff and his family.
Jeff Lucas was a neighbor. He attended the same high school my son did. He was, and is still loved and admired by all in our small-town community. He died in Afghanistan doing his duty to country as a Navy Seal. The way his mother’s eyes still well up at the mere mention of his name tells it all.

This video has so much heart and spills over a wave of gratitude so needed to have and to express in all of our hearts towards Jeff and all of his brothers and sisters who serve in the military for our freedom and safety. After having experienced the changing of the guard at Washington DC for the very first time, I realized that during that silence…there was so much prayer and respect so thick in the air it left you as if you just attended confession and released all the weight upon your conscience. Thank you Gino for your example in such a beautiful and honoring way. God bless you.

Thanks Gino for bringing your beautiful tribute to life and honoring Jeff Lucas’ life, spirit, memory and service with this memorial. It mustn’t have been easy. Ken and I played this song over and over again, until Dan deployed to Afghanistan. Now it’s just too hard, though it is still one of the most beautiful songs we’ve heard. It makes me ache for all those left behind and for the brave young men and women and what might have been. Congratulations on the Stadium Fund success!

I never served in the military but I cried like a baby when I watched this video, and I’m 59 years old. Gino you are one of the the greatest talents in the musical world. A man filled with compassion and vision. Thank you for this wonderful tribute.

The art of composing and arranging with equal taste is a rare one. If we add the sensibility to sing with poignancy and warmth at the same time; then we are in the presence of a truly gifted musician/singer. Through the years, Gino, have given us your soul on each song you have written. This is no exception. My sincere thanks to you for bringing to the forefront the heroic life of Jeff Lucas for all to see and understand. And my sincere and felt thanks to all those nameless individuals who have paid the ultimate price so that we may continue to live our lives.
Yesterday, I happened across Living Inside Myself from the early 1980s. Memories flooded over me, of that time of my military service and the subsequent deaths of some of my friends in the Beirut bombing of 1983. I appreciate your tribute here, and the memories of some others that I associate with your music, and I wish the world were free.
